      我是兩個小男孩的母親,他們分別是五歲跟三歲。五歲的大兒子雖然不吃肉類及海鮮,但他超愛吃傳統白豆腐,所以依然發育得不錯,外表看起來很正常,沒讓我傷太多的腦筋。但是弟弟就糟了,他長得又瘦又小。就像您書中所描寫的:起床很晚,沒胃口,多半喝一瓶牛奶。中午吃不多,下午也喝牛奶然後睡覺。晚上也吃不多,睡前再喝一次牛奶。更令人擔心的是,他吃得很少而且最近正好有中耳炎的問題,看到書中所寫的這部份,讓我觸目心驚。我現在該怎麼辦呢?他現在已經兩歲半了,我還可以餵他吃您所說的嬰兒食物泥嗎?會不會太慢了?真希望我也認識丹瑪醫生。您的書給了我很大的幫助,是否可以請您給我一些育兒方面的寶貴建議呢?感謝您。

要解決你的問題其實很簡單,若是丹瑪醫生會這樣回答:
 
1.從今天開始,不要再喝牛奶/吃家中日常每餐所準備的食物。家中不要再有牛奶、優格、起司和披薩。
 
2.也不要再喝果汁和甜的飲料。只喝水。當妳的孩子要求要吃那些禁品時,只要微笑並對他們說:「家裡沒有那些東西!」
 
3.兩餐之間不要有甜點,只要將餐與餐之間間隔五個半小時。
 
4.烹煮健康的食物,確定每餐都要有蛋白質(蛋、豆腐、魚或者肉類)。
 
5.假如你的兒子不肯吃,別對他說什麼。只要將他的食物收起萊,要他離開去玩遊戲,讓他在戶外公園運動。當下一餐的時間到了,再將他上一餐的食物端上桌。
 
6.訂定你想要小孩起床的時間,然後準備一頓很棒的早餐(有蛋),並在那個時間叫他們起床。假如保持這個作息,妳的小孩就會在該睡覺的時間上床睡覺。
 
      若照上面的作法按著做,幾週後,妳兒子的胃口就會回來了,妳會感到很高興的。我也有其他的讀者告訴我奇蹟已經出現,他們小孩現在胃口很好。還有,若妳確實按照這樣實行,他也不會再得中耳炎,那是個很重要的。
    
    現在為他準備嬰兒食物可能太晚了,但你可以準備奶昔(with no milk)。例如,我做的豆腐奶昔,我女兒愛極了!作法是將豆腐和香蕉(冰過風味更佳)、水果及一些蔬菜統統放入攪拌器,做成一道健康奶昔。通常香蕉和水果會讓味道嚐起來很棒,但若妳需要更甜些,可加上蜂蜜。

I'm a mother of two liitle boys, they are five and three years now.
The elder one does not beat my brain too much, he eats lot (though he does not like meat and sea food) and looks normal. But the little one is just as the book describe--wake up lately, then eat nothing but milk. He also has problem of tympasnitis. The most thing that woory me is he eat little, so , he is thin and weak.
  What can I do now? I can make the mashed food for him now? He is two and half years. I wished I know Dc. Denmark, your book helps me lot, could you give me more advices about raising child. Thank you.

A:  Hello Jessielin,
 
The solution to your problem is actually very simple.  This is what Dr. Denmark would say:
 
    1.  Starting today, get rid of all milk / dairy products from your home.  No more milk.  No yogurt, no cheese, no pizza.
    2.  Also get rid of all juice or sweet drinks.  Drink only water.  When your kids ask for them, just say with a smile, "There's no more in the house!"
    3.  No snacks between meals.  Simply space your meals five and a half hours apart.
    4.  Cook healthy meals, making sure there's protein at every meal (egg or tofu or fish or meat).
    5.  If your son does not eat, don't talk to him about it.  Just wrap up his meal and let him go and play.  Let him exercise outside in the park.  When the next meal comes, bring out his wrapped food from the last meal.
    6.  Determine what time you want your children to wake up.  Then cook a good breakfast (with eggs) and wake them up at that time.  If you keep this schedule, your son will get sleepy at the right time and go to bed at the right time.
 
    If you do the above, in a few weeks, your son's appetite will return.  You will be amazed.  I already have had readers tell me that a miracle has happened and that their child now eats well.  Also, if you do the above, your son will stop having ear infections, which is so important.
 
    It is probably too late to make baby food for him now.  But, you can definitely make shakes.  For example, I make cold tofu shakes.  My girls love it.  Put tofu and bananas (preferably frozen) and fruit and some vegetables together in the blender for a healthy shake.  Usually the bananas and fruit will make it taste good.  But if you need more sweetness, you can add some honey.
